Welcome to Connecting in Play
Connecting in Play provides outreach play therapy services to families in the Eastern and South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
I have BA and Post Graduate qualifications and certifications, and I’m registered with the Play Therapy Practitioners Association.
I am a qualified Social Worker and Play Therapist with experience working in both non for profit and private practice.
I'm passionate about the use of child led play to explore the child’s inner world as well as the privilege of supporting parents on the journey to understand their children’s unique challenges.
We are a neurodiverse affirming practice, supporting the social and emotional development of children from aged 2-12 years old.
Children do not possess the complex, expressive language skills needed to communicate the challenges they are experiencing. Since children communicate their wants, needs, and feelings largely through play behaviors, play therapy becomes the natural pathway for a child’s communication system and the primary vehicle through which the child is able to express an understanding of their world.
Play therapists work with children and their families referred for childhood attachment difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, developmental delays, social and emotional challenges associated with neurodiversity. Child Centered Play Therapy is one of the most common forms of play therapy. It is an evidence based approach which allows children to decide on the direction and the pace of therapy. This is all provided within the context of a full acceptance of who the child is and whatever they present.
Please contact me to discuss how Play Therapy can support you and your child.
We can chat about your concerns and if you feel I am a good fit for your child we can proceed to a more formal intake process.
